Today we took Mimi to her new home in the Charente, where she will live with new donkey pal Napoleon. After a little trot about in her new paddock and a nose sniff with Napoleon, it was back down to the serious job of eating! We would like to thank Kayleigh and her mum for adopting Mimi and we hope they have much fun together in the future.

After 3 weeks in ERF’s care Mimi is progressing well and last night she had her first experience of saddle,bit and long reins. Mimi was allowed to experience the feeling of having a saddle on her back in the safety of the round pen before we put on the bridle and long reins. Allowing equines the freedom to buck and move around at liberty with their first saddle is an important learning lesson in the backing process.

Each equine ERF rehabilitates is treated as an individual and is worked on sympathetically, never being pushed beyond the progress speed they happy to go at.

Yesterday was an eventful day to say the least when we turned up to collect Mimi to take her to her new adoptive home.

Mimi had been ruling her previous owner a little and had a bit of ‘mule attitude’ when asked to do anything other than what Mimi wanted! (more…)

Mimi, a 3 yr old female mule looking for an urgent home. She is very sweet and is being handled/groomed regularly.She would need somebody with the experience to continue with her education for the future.
