We had a very worthwhile day out on Sunday at the Etcetera re-launch fete, where we got to meet some of our present supporters and also gained some new ones. It’s always nice to put a face to a name and to show some examples of  how donations are being used. Despite the slightly chilly weather there was an excellent turnout with lots of interesting stands and car boot stalls to keep everyone amused. A huge well done must go to the editor Lorraine who managed to pull off such a great family day out. ERF are pleased to be writing a monthly column for the Etcetera magazine on equines (of course!) and all back issues can be read online.

We would also like to appeal for potential fundraisers that could maybe run a fundraising event or have a vide grenier stand in aid of ERF to please get in touch with us.

Last Saturday Helen Barnes, from the Dordogne, organised a 20 km fundraising walk in aid of ERF. Helen was joined by a band  of walkers, some with their dogs, all keen to kindly help raise funds for ERF.

The walk was initially organised as a sponsored ride on horseback, but the EIA outbreak  in the vicinty that week meant that plans quickly had to be changed as it was decided to be too great a risk taking horses out.

Helen has informed us that around 150€ has been raised, which is fantastic and we would like to take this opportunity to thank Helen and all of the participants for their efforts.

Last Saturday was a chance for horse lovers in the La Souterraine and surrounding areas to get together and watch Adam Sheresdan use his natural horsemanship techniques on a variety of different horses throughout the day. We took along Zurito (a horse rescued by Trina before ERF was formed) for Adam to use who, was impeccably behaved all day .

Yesterday was the ERF summer fete and what glorious weather we were blessed with down in the Dordogne. Approximately 500€ was raised from the raffle and donations from the generous stall holders, raffle prize donators and members of the public who attended. Thank you to everyone who turned up and supported this event, we hope you all enjoyed yourselves as much as we did! It was nice to meet so many people  interested in the work we do and ERF hope to be welcoming some new members on board this year.

A big thank you must also go to Tanya, and her family, who offered the use of their camp site for the day and  for her time and effort put into organising the fete.

The recent Irish fundraising night in aid of ERF went down a storm!

A whopping 152 people attended the event which was held at the beautiful lakeside location of Beau Vallon in Montguyon.

Charente based Irish folk band ‘Le Craic’ performed an array of well know Irish tunes which soon had people up on the dance floor partying. Once again the English book sales went well and they are now a popular addition to the ERF stand!

Huge thanks must go to our ever hard working fundraiser Christina Hernon (and hubby John) who organised this event raising approx 700€ for ERF. These much needed funds will help towards our recent large vet fee’s having to castrate 2 of the donkeys and correcting neglected feet problems.

We are aways grateful for volunteers to offer to fundraise, if you think you could organise anything from a coffee morning to a Christmas ball, please get in touch by phone or email.
